Nothoscordum from Autumn, TX

I found these white little flowers in the woods the other day, and I was wondering if you could help me identify them for a school project. I live in Shady Shores, Texas just to give you an ideal location. Please help! Thank you! ~Autumn

Hi Autumn,

I showed your pictures to colleagues and they agreed that this is crow poison, Nothoscordum bivalve, a rather common native.  It is related to onions, but not edible.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steven R. Hill, Botanist, SCNPS
