This is a Lespedeza found on a disturbed site near Beaufort. It was about two to three feet tall and not very shrubby. I didn’t think it was bicolor and still don’t unless it’s an unusual specimen. I should be better at keying it out being in the business but I haven’t tried very hard. I found this site and thought you might help me.
Hi Joe Florida [hahah],
well, I suppose it could be Lespedeza bicolor. However, you should also consider Lespedeza thunbergii which is spreading and more attractive, large and bushy. Time will tell – these are very young!
Sincerely,
Dr. Steven R. Hill, Botanist, SCNPS
