Hearts-a-bustin’ from Jim in SC

Posted on |

This is on a small, 3 ft high, bush along a stream in hilly woodlands in the Piedmont of SC.

Hello again, Jim,

your shrub is Euonymus americanus, often called ‘Hearts-a-bustin’-with-Love” because of the unusual fruits it gets in the autumn.  It is common throughout the state.

Sincerely,

Steven R. Hill, Ph.D., Botanist, SCNPS
