A privet from Bob in SC

Posted on |

This is in my yard. It is about 4.5′ tall. It has small white flowers. The picture of the cutting has a lighter for scale. Thank you.

Bob,

you have some kind of privet, genus Ligustrum.  It does not appear to be one of the species that commonly escapes in our area, so I am not positive of the species.  It may be Ligustrum quihoui, which I do not know very well.  I would show the images, or take a piece, to a local nurseryman to see if they can identify it further.

Sincerely,

Steve Hill, Botanist   SCNPS
